After being licensed by the Kenyan government, Frotcom East Africa has introduced, in a Road Safety forum for Kenyan public transport operators, a new possibility in Frotcom, which is setting a speed limit for a vehicle using digital speed limiters (or speed governors). The on-board Frotcom GPS tracking device will act when that limit is exceeded, inhibiting the flow of fuel to the engine, which reduces the speed until a more convenient speed is reached. Definitely, a major contribution to road safety. At the same forum, Mr. John Olando (Diani Base Commander) and Mr. Francis Gituma (Likoni Base Commander) hailed Frotcom East Africa and Jackson Fagio, for creating awareness among stakeholders on the importance of installing the system on their public service vehicles. As speed limiters are mandatory by the Kenyan traffic law in all public service vehicles and commercial vehicles with tare weight of 3048 kg and above, this new Frotcom solution will help police officers to ensure compliance of road safety regulations. Frotcom East Africa is now marketing this new feature in all Kenyan cities and providing civic education to the stakeholders on how the solution works. According to ministry”. Jackson Fagio, “Apart from the speed limit control, Frotcom can also detect long idleness, harsh braking and accelerations and has geo-fencing ability which prevents the car from moving beyond its operation area”. He added that “only vehicles with Frotcom can get night travel permits from the Transport ministry”.
