Frotcom participates in a volunteer action on child transport safety
Frotcom participated in a volunteer activity organized by the Portuguese Association for Child Safety Promotion (APSI) to set intervention goals to increase safety in child transport.
As part of its social responsibility and in partnership with APSI - Portuguese Association for Child Safety Promotion, Frotcom International invited its employees to attend a volunteer action on the afternoon of October 5 at the Grijó, Alverca, and Pinhal Novo toll gates.
The participants took part in an observational study on "Transporting children in cars and the use of child safety restraint systems, in a highway environment". As said by Sandra Nascimento, Chairman at APSI - Associação para a Promoção da Segurança Infantil “this is the only observational study carried out in the country regularly since 1996. This study allows us to assess how families protect children in their car journeys. And also understand the biggest flaws in this transport and the key messages and actions that the association should develop so that all children are transported - from birth to adulthood - in the safest way possible are. The systematic and correct use of a child restraint system, commonly referred to as a car seat, can save a child's life in the event of an accident”.
Nuno Liñan, Frotcom International Chief Operating Officer, said: “Through corporate social responsibility initiatives, Frotcom works to improve its business operations' social, environmental, and economic impacts. Volunteering with APSI in this observational study on "Transporting children in cars and the use of child safety restraint systems, in a highway environment" was a fantastic experience. It's great to see how it benefits our company and our team, but more importantly, how it directly helps increase child safety and save lives".
